Education Ministry
The mission of the Education Ministry is to
champion the sacred position God holds toward human life by offering churches,
schools and individuals proper training, services and support which protect
all of human life.
Staff and volunteers of Christian Life Ministries work with pastors
and staff ministers of local churches, teachers and youth workers of local
parochial schools and teachers and volunteers of public schools to educate
both youth and adults on contemporary sanctity of life issues.
These programs, and resources on these topics, are available to you
and your family, your church, your school, and any other groups that would
like to use them. If you're interested in using these resources,
please call our office at 651-649-3538, or the Education Director at 952-470-6245.
Programs
- Pro-Life Sundays
Mission: To engage the members of our WELS and ELS congregations in learning what the Bible teaches on sanctity of life issues.
Life Sundays brings one of our CLM speakers into the church, the Bible
Class and Sunday School to increase awareness of the contemporary sanctity
of life issues. These Sundays may include a life-related sermon; Bible
studies on various sanctity of life issues offering education and healing
for those who are affected by today's life issues; a message to the Sunday
school children; music that reminds us of God's gift of life. Many WELS congregations have already found these
services and presentations to be enriching and edifying especially as a fall
mission Sunday, Roe vs. Wade time in January, Mother's Day, Father's Day, or
other times during the year.
- Educational Presentations
Mission: Offer speakers on a variety of life-related topics for churches,
school, and various church groups.
Topics available: Character development, Chastity / abstinence, drug
abuse, fertility / infertility, bioethics, invitro fertilization, STD/STI,
euthanasia, abortion, infanticide, suicide, post abortion syndrome,
homosexuality, birth control for marriage, medical directive statements,
stem cell research, others upon request.
- Youth Retreats on Life Issues
Mission: Give the youth of our churches the opportunity to experience
renewal in Christ and strengthening in Christian values in a safe and fun
indoor or outdoor environment.
The Sanctity of Life Youth Retreat brings many WELS/ELS youth together for
topic presentations on relationship and family matters, Bible studies on the
sanctity of life issues, friendship and outdoor recreation. Watch your
church bulletins for the next opportunity to sign up, probably in November.
(Youth chapels are also available for elementary, high school and college
groups).
- Teens For Life
Teens For Life is a teen life group at St. Croix Lutheran and West Lutheran High Schools.
These two groups help with life issue awareness in their schools and communities through
publicity and service opportunities.
- Good Gifts Dating Forums (Dick Erickson)
Mission: Engage youth and parents in discussions about dating
and marriage relationship.
Good Gifts Dating Forums give the unique opportunity for parents and
youth to talk together about proper dating, peer and marriage relationships.
The discussions help remind participants about the good gifts God has given
us in our relationships, and reminds them of the importance of strong biblical
roots in our relationships.
